Commodity distribution program could use volunteers

Dear Editor,

We have many organizations and programs here in Boyle County that can always use volunteers to help in their work. One of them is the commodity distribution that is the first Thursday of every month at the Community Friends Outreach building at 4620 Hustonville Road in Junction City.

We begin about 9 a.m. and volunteers help unload the truck, then it is sorted and placed on long tables. About 10:30 a.m. we are ready to start filling boxes for about 216 families each month.

We have been doing this work for about 12 years and it is amazing the folks you meet and how glad they are to receive this box of food.

Always remember the first Thursday of every month.
