Mary Burton

1922-2017

Mary Burton, 94, widow of Hunter, died Thursday, February 9, 2017. Born March 6, 1922, in Bath County, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Estella (Corbin) Smith.

She owned and operated the Harrodsburg Dish Barn for 51 years, served on the Harrodsburg Board of Education for 12 years and on the Haggin Memorial Hospital Board for 38 years.

Mary was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church. Survivors: four children, Mary Sue (David) Burton Duke, St. Clemente, Calif., Ann Hunter (Terry Sutherland) Burton, Harrodsburg, Louise (Harry) Burton Bush, Lexington, Ed (Pam) Burton, Venice, Fla.; two siblings, Dortha Oatts and Hissel Smith; four grandchildren, Alyssa Duke, Hunter Burton, Michelle Oakley, and Takken Bush.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Noah Burton, and brother, Richard Smith.

Funeral 2 p.m. Monday, Harrodsburg Christian Church. Visitation 12 p.m. Monday.
