Boyle girls, Garrard boys move on in 45th District tourney

The Boyle County girls basketball team rested its normal starting five in Monday’s game against Kentucky School for the Deaf, but it did little to slow down the Rebels.

Kasey McGirr led a trio of Rebels in double figures and Boyle advanced to the 45th District tournament semifinals with a 65-14 win over KSD.

McGirr scored nine of her game-high 20 points in the third quarter.

Madelyn Inmon had 12 points — 10 coming before halftime — and Emily Glasscock added 11.

The Rebels face top-seeded Danville at 6 p.m. tonight at Rebel Arena.

BOYS BASKETBALL

GARRARD COUNTY 70, KSD 8 — The boys game went much the same as the girls game in Monday’s 45th District tournament at Boyle County.

The Golden Lions didn’t play its three best players and still rolled over the Colonels.

Garrard will now face No. 1 seed Lincoln County at 7:45 p.m. tonight at Boyle County.

It ties the lowest point total in a game in KSD history.

Dalton Sebastian had 26 points, including three 3-pointers in the second half, as Garrard outscored KSD 26-2 after halftime.

Troy Preston scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Garrard.

Brock Milburn had five steals for Garrard, and Trevor Holman had nine rebounds.

Irvin Herrera scored all eight points for KSD. He finished his career with 893 points.
