Mercer grand jury indicts 16

A Mercer County grand jury indicted the following people on Feb. 15:

• Brandon Hellmig, 19, 2380 Oregon Road, Salvisa (all charges stem from an incident at Old Fort Harrod State Park at or before Jan. 13 and 14, 2017): first-degree criminal mischief for allegedly causing more than $1,000 in damage to the property; second-degree criminal trespassing; three counts of second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor for allegedly knowingly inducing or assisting a minor to engage in illegal activity constituting a felony; third-degree burglary for allegedly unlawfully entering the gift shop at Old Fort Harrod State Park; second-degree criminal mischief for allegedly causing more than $500 in damages to the property; and second-degree cruelty to animals for allegedly killing a sheep that belonged to the park. Bail was set at $10,000. Chad Baker with the Harrodsburg Police Department testified.

• Matthew Shannon, 23, 2840 Mackville Road, Harrodsburg: theft by unlawful taking between $500 and $10,000; and third-degree criminal trespassing. Bail was set at $5,000. Drew Stratton testified for the Commonwealth. Shannon was also charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000 and Chris Booth with the Harrodsburg Police Department testified.

• Michael Jackson, 29, 411 English Ave., Harrodsburg: first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine); and tampering with physical evidence. Bail was set at $10,000. Booth testified.

• Roger Brown, 45, 556 Lynn Drive, Harrodsburg: receiving stolen property, firearm; and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Bail was set at $10,000. Tony Godbey Jr. with the Harrodsburg Police Department testified.

• Alfred Holt, 29, 469 West Office St., Harrodsburg: first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine); and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000. Ryan Evans with the Harrodsburg Police Department testified.

• Richard Alford, 29, 4667 Talmage Mayo Road, Harrodsburg: first-degree possession of a controlled substance (cocaine); and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000. Chris Perkins with the Harrodsburg Police Department testified.

• Zachary Yonts, 25, 1363 Seaville Road, Willisburg: first-degree possession of a controlled substance (cocaine); and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000. Perkins testified.

• Travis Helton, 32, 1985 Danville Road, Harrodsburg: receiving stolen property between $500 and $10,000 for allegedly having in his possession a vehicle he knew was stolen. Bail was set at $5,000. Wes Gaddis with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office testified. Helton was also indicted for flagrant non-support. Bail was set at $5,000. Brenda Savage testified for the Commonwealth.

• Delaine Riley, 25, 263 McCroskey Pike, Harrodsburg: possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Bail was set at $10,000. Hunter Hensley with Kentucky State Police testified.

• Roy Miller, 38, 2577 Talmage Mayo Road, Salvisa: first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Bail was set at $5,000. Evans testified.

• James Taylor, 51, 302 McCroskey Pike, Harrodsburg: first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Bail was set at $5,000. Evans testified.

• Cody Mink, 23, 503 Marimon Ave., Harrodsburg: theft by unlawful taking, firearm. Bail was set at $5,000. Evans testified.

• Cory Mink, 26, 181 Lincoln Trail, Stanford: theft by unlawful taking, firearm. Bail was set at $5,000. Evans testified.

• Jason Tyler, 37, 430 Main St., Salvisa: possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Bail was set at $5,000. Perkins testified.

• Nico Jones, 28, 100 Magnolia St. No. 7, Harrodsburg: first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Bail was set at $5,000. Perkins testified.

• Jason Davis, 38, 325 Leonard Court, Danville: flagrant non-support. Bail was set at $5,000. Maranda Sexton testified for the Commonwealth.
