February building permits

Building permits issued in February by Danville-Boyle County Planning and Zoning Commission include: Steve Bates, 1020 Battlefield Road, accessory, 304 square feet; Clark’s Run, S. Southerland, two duplexes, 3,048 square feet each.

Danville’s Franklin Masonic Lodge will have a country breakfast 7-10 a.m. Saturday, March 4 at the lodge hall, 400 North Fourth St. The menu includes pork tenderloin, country ham, sausage, bacon, pancakes, eggs, potatoes, biscuits, gravy, coffee, orange juice and pastries. Everyone is welcome.

Friends of the Library to meet

Friends of the Library will meet 7 p.m. Monday, March 13 at the Boyle County Public Library community room. Speaker will be Kathy Miles, coordinator of the Boyle County Agency for Substance Abuse. She will talk on “Addiction in Danville: Challenges, Opportunities and Hope for the Future.” Refreshments will be served.

DAR accepting new members 

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is open to any woman 18 years of age or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal discent from a patriot of the American Revolution. For more information visit www.dar.org

Garrard Community Arts Center membership meeting, 6:30 p.m. March 21 at the Arts Center, 117 Richmond St., Lancaster. Open to all members and anyone who would like to join.

The McDowell Wellness Center 10K will be held 8 a.m. June 24. The date was incorrect in the article “Race Wilderness Trace series returns for 32nd year” that appeared in Tuesday’s paper.
