Understanding Islam seminar

Our Savior Lutheran Church, 285 Hill-n-Dale, presents “Understanding Islam from a Christian Perspective” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18. The speaker will be Adam Francisco, who earned his PhD from Oxford University, and is currently professor at Concordia University in Irvine, California.

Rotary International Dinner Saturday

Danville Rotary will hold its annual International Dinner Saturday, March 18. This year, Rotary is raising $10,000 for the Danville-Boyle County Senior Center for refurbishment of its community room. After the project is completed, the room will be available to all non-profit organizations in the county.

The dinner event will be held at Centre College’s Chowan Building, 820 W. Perryville St., Danville. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person and available from President Allan Crain, (859) 516-1434.

Since 2000 Danville Rotary has contributed over $210,000 to projects benefiting the local community, including $45,000 for Wilderness Trace Child Development; $25,425 for a Millennium Park soccer field; and $25,025 for Millennium Park picnic and pavilion areas. Last year, Rotary’s capital project was $10,000 for the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.
