Elizabeth Maxene Moore Ray

Elizabeth Maxene Moore Ray, of Danville, passed away Sunday at her home. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Ray.

Maxene was born in Lousiville, Kentucky to the late Brown and Katherine Haller Moore. She was an elementary school teacher and librarian for the Jefferson County School System for over 25 years. She retired as a librarian, after 10 years, from Duvall County in Jacksonville, Florida. Maxene was a member of the Danville Church of Christ.

Survivng are two daughters, Shelia Jacobs (Chuck) of Louisville and Debby Vifquain (Scott) of Danville; one son, Chuck Ray (Liz) of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Pat Smith of Jefferson, and Georgia and Nancy Barbee of Kannapolis, North Carolina; two sister-in-laws, Irma Moore of Shelbyville, Kentucky and Pat McLellan of Elkin, North Carolina; eight grandchildren: Charlie Vifquain (Lora), Kathryn Canada (Tim), Dianne Estes (Mike), Matthew Rupp (Chelsea), Jon Rupp (Wynter), Rebecca Rupp, Chase Ray (Libba), and Molly Ruth Ray; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Scott Vifquain, Mike Estes, and Reggie Robarts officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service. A private family burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Pallbearers will be Bill Moore, Bernard Moore, Chase Ray, Matt Rupp, Jon Rupp, Alan Barbee, and Charlie Vifquain. Memorials contributions can be made to Heritage Hospice, Danville, Kentucky.
