Man charged with assault after woman jumps out of moving car

A man is facing assault and drug charges after a female passenger fell out of his moving vehicle on Sunday.

According to the Danville Police Department, the police, Danville Fire and EMS responded to the area on South Fourth Street and Roy Arnold Boulevard due to a female who had fallen out of a vehicle.

Police said that during the investigation, it was learned that the driver — Corey L. Hilliard, 30, of Lebanon — had assaulted the female victim while driving southbound on Fourth Street.

While trying to escape, the female got out of the moving vehicle which then ran her over. Hilliard fled the scene and the victim was taken to the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for severe injury to her leg, and other minor bodily injures.

Officers located Hilliard at a local hotel and arrested him on charges of first-degree assault; tampering with physical evidence; first-degree possession of controlled substance, cocaine; and first-degree trafficking controlled substance, cocaine.

Hilliard is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
