Boyle County Middle School hosted the fifth annual Johnny Harmon Invitational on Saturday at Millennium Park. Thirteen different middle school softball teams from around central Kentucky participated in the event.

Harmon was an assistant coach for the Eagles from 2004-07, and he was the head coach from 2007 until he retired in 2011.

All four softball fields at Millennium were in use as the following middle school teams played — the host Eagles; Garrard County; Marion County; Taylor County; North Pulaski; Corbin; Rockcastle; Estill; Lexington Catholic; Beaumont; South Laurel; Lexington; and Caudill (Richmond).

Rockcastle beat Boyle 5-1 in the championship game. Rockcastle had beaten Garrard 9-4 in the semifinals while Boyle topped Caudill 10-0 in three innings in the other semifinal. The Eagles went 4-1 while the Cougars finished 3-1.
