Our featured pets this week are Amanda and Dean.
Amanda is a pretty 10-month-old kitty. She has a smoky black coat with just a touch of white markings. Amanda is quite the social butterfly. She reaches with outstretched paw to all our visitors and plays nicely with other kitties. Amanda has a spunky personality and will provide plenty of entertainment in her new home. Come and meet Amanda and see if she’s the right kitty for you!
Dean is a handsome 3-month-old mixed breed puppy. He may be part shepherd and maybe hound mix. He sure is a cutie and he has six siblings that are also looking for their special homes. Dean is sweet and playful and just the right age to start his training. Can you give this charming little fellow a home where he will receive the love and attention that he deserves?
If you are considering adopting a dog or cat some advance planning will help your new pet make a successful adjustment in his forever home. Deciding where your pet is going to sleep, eat and stay when you are not at home is important.
Plan which family members will be responsible for caring for the new pet and have your supplies on hand. Food, bowls, toys and a comfy bed will be required and dogs will need a properly fitted collar and leash. Cat adopters should have a pet carrier for safe travel in the car. Puppies and dogs will house-train easier with the use of a crate at home.
It can take anywhere from a couple of days to a month or more for you and your pet to adjust to each other so patience, consistent training and lots of love will make for a smooth transition to the new home.
