Sherman Lowell Sowers

1936-2017

Sherman Lowell Sowers, age 81, long time resident of Casey and Lincoln counties, passed unexpectedly Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital. Born Monday, January 13, 1936, in Casey County, he was the son of the late William Ed and Nedie P. Jones Sowers.

Sherman was a graduate of Campbellsville University, a retired teacher from the Casey County School System, an avid UK Basketball fan, and a member of Grove Ridge Baptist Church.

In his spare time, he enjoyed farming and cruising around the countryside in his old truck.

Sherman leaves behind one brother, J.C. Sowers (Gladys) of Highland; one sister, Reba I. Robertson (William) of Waynesburg; 10 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George S. Sowers and William G. Sowers; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Sowers.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Pittman and Bro. Mike McArter officiating the service. Burial will follow in Wall Cemetery. A Visitation will be held 10 a.m. -3 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the funeral home.
