Our featured pets this week are Callie and Roxie.

Callie

Callie is a beautiful 3-year-old calico cat. She was turned into the humane society by her owner who could no longer care for her pets. Callie appears to have been well cared for and she was an indoor kitty. It took Callie a week or so to adjust to her new surroundings, but she is currently comfortable living in one of our kitty condos sharing her space with several other adult cats. Callie is a sweet girl and she will make a wonderful companion when she gets a second at her forever home.

Roxie is a charming 1-year-old Pit Bull mix. She is a pretty white with dark brown spots including cute patches over both eyes. Roxie was found by a concerned citizen at a busy intersection and brought to the humane society for her safety. Although Roxie does not seem to have received a lot of training, she appears to be a smart girl and she has a loving and calm personality. Roxie has a lot of potential and she is just waiting for that special person to choose her for adoption.

The humane society is still collecting shoes gently used and new shoes through the month of April for our Shoes for Paws fundraiser. The more shoes we collect, the more money that will be raised to help the animals at the DBCHS. Plus the donated shoes will be going to people in need in developing nations. Shoes can be dropped off at the following locations: the humane society, Farmers National Bank, Fort Knox Federal Credit Union, Chase Bank, Ephraim McDowell Wellness Center, Workout Anytime, Danville Bike and Fitness and Maple Tree Gallery.

Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes. Call our Happy Paws Clinic today at (859) 691-1137 for an appointment. Please help control pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered.
