Ivan Shelburne, Jr.

1927-2017

Ivan Shelburne, Jr. passed quietly in his home the morning of June 2, 2017 with his wife Fan Shelburne, nearby. He was born July 21, 1927 in Taylorsville, KY. He received his B.D. and Bachelor of Divinity degree from Transylvania College, Lexington, KY and his Doctorate Degree from Lexington Theological Seminary, in Lexington, KY.

Dr. Shelburne was the minister for Waddy Christian Church in Waddy, KY; Central Christian Church in Murfreesboro, TN; Shawnee Christian Church in Louisville, KY; First Christian Church in Danville, KY and Alton Christian Church in Lawrenceburg, KY. After retiring from the ministry, he continued to touch people’s lives working in real estate in Danville, KY including opening Shelburne Realty Co. Finally, he fulfilled a lifelong dream purchasing and revitalizing a farm on the outskirts of Danville. Throughout his life he took an active interest in the community. He approached life with enthusiasm and was a lifelong learner.

Ivan is preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Pauline (Snyder) Shelburne.

He is survived by his wife Fan (Kitchen) Shelburne; children Patty (Bob) Rishel, Ivan (Ruth) Shelburne III, Doug (Vanessa) Shelburne and William (Amy) Dishman and grandchildren Ivan IV, William, Garrett, Rachel, Lara, Bell, Caroline and Zachary.

His desire for cremation has been honored. 

A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
