With the break of the weather, the Social Club is hard at work in Baril Park, preparing for summer fun-filled events which are new to the area calendar. We are looking for community support and volunteers to help create exciting events in the community and to raise funds for improving Baril Park and the surrounding areas.

Plans are moving forward to host pop-up restaurants throughout the summer in Baril Park and throughout Boyle County to make the area “historically delicious.” The first pop-up restaurant will be Wednesday, June 14, and will feature Brisket on the Bricks, with food provided by The Cue Catering.

The series of pop-up restaurants will continue weekly for the first 100 patrons to purchase tickets throughout the summer with a themed menu and location. Cost for each event is $25 and includes a meal with a cash bar available. Tickets can be reserved by texting (502) 472-6402 or by messaging The Perryville Social Club on Facebook @perryvillesocialclub. All tickets mist be paid for by cash at the event.

The club invites community members to be involved with a community work day on Saturday, June 10, where individuals will come together and clean up local parks and community areas. Activities will include mulching flower beds, planting flowers and trees, pulling weeds, general clean up of Baril Park and painting picnic tables. Volunteers are asked to please bring their own working tools and materials, and meet at 9 a.m. at the gazebo in Baril Park. Work will continue until 1 p.m.

A Potluck Picnic will bring together community members and families for a fun afternoon of fellowship and food Sunday, June 11 at Baril Park. The potluck will begin at 5:30 p.m. Community members should bring a covered dish to share, as well as serving utensils and dining materials. This is a chance for people to meet the Perryville Social Club and learn more about its mission.

Funds raised by the Perryville Social Club will go towards a power washer, mulch, trees, paint for picnic tables and new brick replacements in Baril Park, and materials and work for the footbridge over the Chaplin River.

The club is dedicated to its community and making home feel a bit happier. With the efforts of bringing together the community of Perryville, the Social Club hopes to continue greater community involvement in its hometown.

In 2015, the Perryville Social Club was created and initial events were attended by two-thirds of the community. Events included the Witches Ball, the Winter Wonderland Ball and the Christmas Parade. The club also gave gifts to Perryville Elementary School students during the 2015 holiday season.
