Ruth Hickman Young

1925-2017

Ruth Anna Hickman Young, 91, of Danville, passed away Friday at Danville Center for Health and Rehab.

Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Everett E. Young. She was born on September 13, 1925 in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late James and Mariah Blackwell Hickman. Ruth was an LPN for many years and a member of the First Church of God of Danville.

Surviving is a son, Dana Everett Young of Allentown, Pennsylvania; five daughters, Evelyne E. Walker(John) of Danville, KY, Maria A. Young McKiver(Usha) of Connecticut, Patricia Ann Young(Donald) of North Carolina, LaQuita Joy Turner(Mark) of Chesapeake Virginia, and Myrna Althea Young of Maryland, ten grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren, and a special friend and caregiver, Donna Singleton.

Ruth was also preceded in death by a son, Emile Emanual Young, two brothers, James Albert Hickman Jr. and George J.Hickman; five sisters, Prince Anna Hickman Hicks, Mary Vivian Hickman Wormley, Anna Elizabeth Hickman Roach, Effie Hickman Brown, and Odell Hickman Jackson.

Funeral services 12 Noon, Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Cummins officiating. Visitation from 10AM until service time Wednesday.

Entombment will be 1PM Friday at Roosevelt Memorial Gardens in Chesapeake, Virginia. www.prestonpruitt.com
