Perryville man killed in Lexington crash

A Perryville man was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Versailles Road in Lexington at about 10:30 p.m. July 4.

According to a release from the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, Robert D. Myers, 56, was traveling outbound on Versailles Road when he was struck from behind by another vehicle.

WTVQ in Lexington reports that the wreck occurred near the entrance of Keeneland, between the entrances of Old Clubhouse Lane and Old Versailles Road. The road was closed overnight into early morning on Wednesday, as the Lexington Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the woman accused of rear-ending Myers, name withheld, was speeding at the time of the crash, but no criminal charges have been filed, WTVQ reports. She was seriously injured in the crash.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office states an autopsy was scheduled for Thursday, but the results were not available at press time.

WKYT reports that Myers is the owner of Dandelion Hollow Farm in Perryville and was the executive chef at the Lexington Country Club. He leaves behind a wife and eight children.

Walden Funeral Home in Perryville is in charge of arrangements, the coroner’s office states.
