This week our featured pets are Tigger and Melvin.
Tigger is a beautiful middle-aged adult cat. She is calico in color and has the most gorgeous emerald eyes. Tigger was surrendered to the humane society because her family was hit with hard times and unable to keep their pets. Tigger has a mellow disposition and she has adjusted well to her new surroundings. She is living in one of our kitty condos and is happy to share her space with the other cats. Tigger will make a great pet if you choose her for adoption!
Melvin is a sweet and cuddly mixed breed puppy. He was born about April 1 and we think he might be part Husky and part shepherd or Chow. Melvin is brown and tan and has a longer, fluffy haircoat. Melvin is a joyful puppy with a great personality. He loves to play with his toys and then sack out for a little nap time. Melvin has been neutered and is ready to become a beloved member of his forever family!
It is mid-summer and along with the hot weather comes “kitten season.” The humane society takes in over 160 cats and kittens each month during this time of year. Giving a homeless kitty the gift of adoption is certainly one way to help. But there are other ways you can assist with the care of so many cats. The humane society needs donations of kitten chow and cat litter. Monetary gifts are always appreciated and used to purchase supplies and veterinary care for the animals. Another way to help the kittens is to become a foster. To learn more about fostering and how to apply please call the humane society at (859) 238-1117 or email dbchs@bellsouth.net .
Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes. Call our Happy Paws Clinic today at (859) 691-1137 for an appointment. Please help control pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered.
