This Week’s Events at the Library

The Boyle County Public Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include a Summer Coding Club 4 p.m. Mondays, Crafters Who Care 6 p.m. Mondays and Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:

• Storytime Break

There will be no storytimes offered Aug. 1-11 at the library. Toddler and Preschool storytimes will resume at the Boyle County Public Library on August 15, 2017 after the two-week hiatus. Homeschool Storytime will resume in September.

• Cookbook Club

On Thursday, Aug. 3,  at 6 p.m. the library will host the Cookbook Club. Each month will feature a theme. In August the theme is Vegetarian foods. Participants will make and share different recipes with the club. They’ll hear what others liked about the cookbook and the recipe they tried, as well as taste-test samples and discover new recipes. • Kentucky Derby Museum Visits the Library

On Friday, Aug. 4, the Kentucky Derby Museum will visit the library to offer two interactive learning programs for kids and tweens. Both programs will be held in the Community Room.

—“Mathin’ Around the Track” will begin at 12:30 p.m. This program will show participants what it takes to win the Kentucky Derby in this real-world application about math. This event is for students in preschool – 3rd grade.

— “Superhorse, the Shoe, and You” will begin at 2 p.m. At this program, participants will explore the athleticism and physiology of a racehorse and jockey, and other factors that go into the making of a champion. This event is for students in 4th-8th grade.

• Lego Club

The library will host Lego Club on Friday, Aug. 4, at 4 p.m. in the Storytime Room. The finished Lego creations will be placed on display in the Children’s Library.
