Dear Editor,

Jane Austen lives on! As part of a world-wide celebration of the British author’s life and works, the “Jane in July” program at the Boyle County Public Library was a great success.

In commemoration of Austen’s death 200 years ago, during one of the July events, local artist Emily Clark presented an original painting to the library of Austen’s tomb in England’s Winchester Cathedral. Her contribution will continue to be enjoyed in the years to come.

Many thanks to the Friends of the Library; the staff of the Boyle County Public Library; the Centre College Not-Even-Thinking-About-Primetime Players; program presenters Stacey Peebles, Helen Emmitt, and John Kinkade; The Garden Club of Danville; West T. Hill Community Theatre; Carol’s Bridal & Gift Boutique; Both Hair Designs; and The Advocate-Messenger. All contributed to provide a unique opportunity for lovers of literature in our community.
