Baptist Association to hold widow’s ministry training

The South District Association of the Kentucky Baptist Convention will have a widows’ ministry training from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Doctor’s Fork Baptist Church, 14331 Lebanon Road, Perryville. Breakfast will be served.

Pastors and deacons, along with their wives, as well as widows are invited to attend. The training is to educate church leaders how best to minister to widows and practice the teaching of James 1: 27. Fifty-percent of widows leave the church they attended with their husband after he dies. An increasing number of women of all ages in our churches, communities and country are becoming widowed.

Dave Evans, pastor of Salt River Baptist Church, and his wife Polly Evans, will be providing inspirational music through singing and signing. Pastor Doug Davis, Perryville Baptist Church, will teach on the theology of Soul Care Ministry to widows. Barbara Satterly, of Gethsemane Baptist Church, will be sharing her journey as a widow. Dr. Cheryl Erwin, of Salt River Baptist, will be teaching about various grieving patterns.

Break-out sessions on different components of Soul Care Ministry will allow church leaders and widows to learn together how to implement them within their local churches. To register contact Dr. Cheryl Erwin at (859) 948-5979 or erwinlexky@hotmail.com no later than August 19.
