Church services

BRODHEAD — The Philadelphia United Baptist Church, 834 Bryant Ridge Road in Brodhead services this month include: Sundays, 10 a.m., Sunday School, 11 a.m. church service and 6 p.m. evening service; Bible study, 7 p.m. Wednesday nights. Church service is held at Brodhead Nursing Home on the first Sunday of the month. Special singing will be on the fourth Sunday of the month. Everyone is welcome. Guest singers on Aug. 27 will be the Mountain View Blue Grass Gospel.

Crusade for Christ

Crusade for Christ will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Comfort Inn, on U.S. 27 one mile south of Nicholasville. The speaker will be Bob Rawlings.

Homecoming service

WAYNESBURG — Waynesburg Pentecostal Church, 12127 U.S. 27 south, Waynesburg, will hold a homecoming Aug. 21-27, with no service on Saturday, Aug. 26. Services are at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27. A dinner will follow the service on Sunday. Everyone is invited.

St. James anniversary 

St. James AME Church, 124 E. Walnut St., Danville, will be celebrating its 144th church anniversary Sunday, Aug. 20. The Rev. Dr. Derek Briscoe and congregation of First Baptist Church at Second and Walnut streets will be the 3 p.m. guests. The Rev. Ralph Boyd Smith is the host paster. Everyone is invited. 

Homecoming

Pleasant Run Baptist Church will have a homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 20. The group, Driven, from Russel Springs will sing at 11 a.m. and dinner will be served following the service. Jr. Fields is the pastor.

Fish fry Saturday

Hope Full Gospel Church wil be having a fish fry beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at 193 East Martin Luther King Blvd. Call (859) 238-0192 for orders.

Movie

Danville First Church of God will be showing Samaritan’s Purse Movie, “Facing Darkness” at 6 p.m. on Sunday Aug. 20. “Facing Darkness” tells the incredible true story of how the Samaritan’s Purse team — with only faith, determination, and prayer — saw God move mountains and perform a miracle during the Ebola epidemic in West Africa in 2014. Admission is free and everyone is invited. The church is located at 3220 Harrodsburg Road, Danville. 

Church has moved

Grace and Faith Church with Pastor Paul Stratton has relocated to 4610 Hustonville Road, in the old Grider’s Furniture Store in Junction City. Services are at 11 a.m. Sundays and 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Youth services will begin in Oct. at 5 p.m. on Sunday. There will be a special celebration with music, ministry and a meal at 11 a.m. Sept. 10. Free and open to the public.
