Hubert Reese Southerland

1929-2017

Hubert Reese Southerland, 88, of Danville, passed away Friday at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation in Danville. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Frances. Hubert was born on May 25, 1929 in Harrison County to the late William Oatley and Verla Johnson Southerland. He was a farmer and handyman, and a Korean War veteran who served proudly in the Army. Hubert was a member of the Burgin Church of God. Surviving are two sons, Douglas Southerland (Mary Nell) of Danville and Phillip Southerland (Gail) of Louisville; three daughters, Julia Graham of Nancy, Kentucky, Edith Yates (Ronnie) of Danville, and Jeannie Riley (Bertice) of Perryville, Kentucky, a sister, Betty Keeton of Danville, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Hubert was also preceded in death by four sisters. Funeral services 2PM Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Irvin officiating. Burial in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12PM-2PM. Active pallbearers are Michael Graham, Joey Graham, Jason Riley, Alex West, Chris Southerland, and Shawn Yates.www.prestonpruitt.com
