Mercer County edges Garrard County in high-scoring thriller

Mercer County and Garrard County had an offensive explosion Friday night in Harrodsburg.
The Titans and Golden Lions combined for 1,205 total yards of offense, with Mercer holding a slight edge with 639 total yards.
Titans’ quarterback Gunnar Gillis completed just 10 passes but threw for 325 yards and five touchdowns.
Five passing touchdowns in a single game is a school record at Mercer County.
His favorite target was Jackson Lewis, who caught four passes for 163 yards and two scores. Lewis also ran 20 times for 157 yards and a touchdown.
Lewis finished with 462 all-purpose yards.
The Titans won the turnover battle, forcing one interception and grabbing one fumble recovery.
Aaron Johnson had three catches for 111 yards and two scores and Trevon Faulkner had two catches for 40 yards and a touchdown. Faulkner also had an interception late in the second half.
