A weeklong Resident Appreciation Week celebration kicked off this past Sunday at Morning Pointe of Danville, located at 1375 Perryville Road, which is  joining tens of thousands of senior living communities across the country for the festivities. It’s Resident Appreciation Week runs through Saturday, Sept. 16, and Morning Pointe is honoring this year’s theme, Family is Forever.

The Family is Forever theme was inspired by a quote from the famed poet Maya Angelou: “Family isn’t always blood, it’s the people in your life who want you in theirs: the ones who accept you for who you are, the ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.”

The annual observance inspires senior living communities around the country to offer a variety of events and activities to celebrate the individuals they serve, as well as to help educate members of the public about this distinct aspect of long term care. Activities scheduled encapsulate the Family is Forever theme and includes special treats from Orange Leaf today; a 2 p.m. pottery class on Wednesday; entertainment from Ron Moroni on Thursday; a resident breakfast on Friday, along with a family movie later in the evening; and a spa day on Saturday.
