Dear Editor,
The Kentucky State BBQ Festival 2017 is in the books and to all of those who traveled from near and far, joined us in celebrating America’s food, and experienced this glorious weekend with us, thank you.
This was our first year at this new, bucolic Kentucky location and we were faced with challenges as well as many great opportunities. Wilderness Trail Distillery is quickly and successfully expanding and therefore under construction as one can note by unpaved roads and excavated areas.
The distillery, our only in Boyle County, welcomed us to this new location with open arms and massive assistance — thank you all at WTD! We coordinated our logistics efforts with Danville Police Department and Boyle County Sheriff’s Office, both before and during this large event.
We will continue to work with local safety officials to improve on traffic, parking issues and handicap accessibility, etc.
We were also fortunate enough to have the assistance of the Civil Air Patrol. The officers and the cadets worked tirelessly to plan and layout the parking, as well as eagerly assist people to park quickly and safely. Thank you for your service.
And with the kind help of 250 volunteers who worked many months to make this experience the very best “Welcome to Danville” it could be — and to nearly 30,000 guests, thank you.
From the BBQ Festival committee and all the volunteers, we were all delighted with the outcome and we greatly appreciate the glowing reviews. We will now begin the process to iron out the wrinkles and make the Kentucky State BBQ Festival better every year. Thank you to all who came, enjoyed themselves, enjoyed a family-friendly atmosphere, listened to live music all weekend long, made lifetime memories, all while eating some of the finest BBQ in the USA.
We appreciate your feedback because it is an opportunity for us to improve. If you would like to provide suggestions and feedback, please email info@KYBBQFestival.com with your comments.
