John “Jack” Allen Richards
1933-2017
John “Jack” Allen Richards, 84, died, Sunday, October 1, 2017. He was born in Beaver County, Pennsylvania on January 18, 1933, to the late Charles E. and Florence Wallis Richards. Jack was a 1950 graduate of Lincoln High School in Pennsylvania. He attended Geneva College.
Jack volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for many years. He served in the United States Army from 1954 until 1956, receiving a National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Sandra Lee Hares Richards; four brothers, Carl, William, Earl, Thomas; three sisters, Mae, Nell, and Esther.
He is survived by three sons, Martin (Caitlin McClanahan) Richards, John D. Richards, Job (Andrea) Richards; a daughter, Nita Richards; a sister-in-law, Lois Gay Richards; six grandchildren, Jamie Makin, Nathan Richards, Courtney May, Alexandrea Richards, Lauren Richards, Jessie Richards; and four great-grandchildren, Emma & Brantley May, and Carson & Olive Richards.
The Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, October 6, 2017, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, KY. Rev. Keith Weldon will officiate. Visitation will be after 4 pm, Thursday, October 5, 2017, Stith Funeral Home, Junction City.
