Ephraim McDowell Commonwealth Cancer Center sponsoring free cancer screening and educational event

Ephraim McDowell Commonwealth Cancer Center is sponsoring a free cancer screening and educational event on Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ephraim McDowell Commonwealth Cancer Center, located at 520 Techwood Drive in Danville.

Participants can learn about their risk for lung, breast, cervical, ovarian, melanoma, colon and prostate cancer.  Screenings for sun damage will also be offered. During the event a registered nurse will discuss other cancer concerns that participants may have. The event will also allow participants the opportunity to pick-up cancer related educational materials, walk through an inflatable colon and enjoy refreshments, giveaways and door prizes.

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States, but with proper screenings and knowing your risks, many cancer related deaths could be prevented.
