Dear Editor,
On behalf of the Arts Commission of Danville/Boyle County and the Pieceable Friends Quilt Guild, I would like to express our grateful appreciation to all those who helped make the first Perryville Re-enactment Quilt Workshop and Exhibit such a success.
From the first day of planning through to the last minute of take down, every person we encountered was accommodating and flexible. Guild members Elaine Mahaffey and Janie Taylor chaired the project. They were the true experts in the field. They were tireless in steering the selection of instructors, networking to promote and publicize the event and encouraging the participants.
Special thanks go to Chris Brummett and Barbara Brummett of the Perryville Jamboree, Vicki Goode of Main Street Perryville, and David Walden and Family for generous financial and in-kind support.
Workshop participants from Ohio, Michigan, Georgia and Kentucky were welcomed by Mayor Anne Sleet and Council members Paul Webb and Julie Clay who stopped by to visit and spend time on such a busy weekend.
Projects such as this are hard work, but the reward of sharing in an atmosphere of welcome and cooperation is what makes them successful and fun! You can be sure we will be back next year. Nearly all participants are inking in their calendars and planning to bring friends.
