Art to Infinity — and beyond

“Inifity” is a collaborative exhibit by the Gathering Artists, Danville longest-standing artist society. Each year, the members of the Gathering Artists select a theme around which to organize their group show at the Community Arts Center. Past themes have included water, barns, and a limited palette challenge where all the artists created work using only three specific colors.
This year’s exhibit focuses on the theme of infinity. Using a variety of media, each artist incorporated the figure eight symbol for infinity – originally introduced by English mathematician John Wallis – into their artwork. The result is a unique and varied exhibit, held together by the shared symbol. Visitors to the exhibit can challenge themselves to find the symbol hidden in each piece of artwork. It may appear in the loop of a ribbon or a curl of hair or within the texture of a landscape.
The Infinity exhibit will be on display through November 10th. It is open Tuesday through Friday, 11am and 7pm and Saturdays 10am to 5pm.
