Pets of the week, Nov. 21

Published 9:36 am Tuesday, November 21, 2017

Our featured pets this week are Garfield and Sugar.

Garfield

Garfield is a sweet one-year-old orange tabby. He has an outgoing personality without being demanding of attention. Garfield likes to play with the other cats, but he is also content with a nap in the sunny window sill. If you are looking for a handsome, well-behaved feline friend come and spend some time with Garfield.

Sugar is a pretty six-month-old mixed breed puppy. She looks like she may be part Jack Russell Terrier. Sugar has a brown coat with black muzzle and some white markings. Sugar is a little short-legged for her body length, giving her an extra cute appearance. Sugar has been spayed and is ready to become a beloved member of her forever family.

We’re looking forward to a great turnout for our fourth annual Pints for Pets Pup Crawl fundraiser this Saturday in downtown Danville. Even if you have not pre-registered, you can still join the fun by signing up at the West T. Hill Theater 117 Larimer Lane, beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The cost is $20/$22 and we will have cool t-shirts available on a first come first serve basis and registration will earn you discounts on food items at our venues and you can win some great door prizes.

In this week of Thanksgiving, we’d like to thank to all of the wonderful people of our community who support the work of the DBCHS. We could never accomplish all that we do without the help of our special volunteers. They assist at our adoption center at PetSmart. They work tirelessly at our Happy Paws Spay/Neuter Clinic. Volunteers run the Mutts With Manners training program. They also put in many hours each week at the humane society to help the dogs and cats feel loved and cared for while they wait for their forever homes.

We are thankful for our skilled local veterinarians who provide medical services and adoption surgeries. We thank our very generous donors who support our mission with monetary gifts and donations of needed supplies. And we thank our adopters who open their hearts and their homes to the precious animals. We hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
