Senator Rick Girdler named Vice Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Economic Development, Tourism, and Labor

FRANKFORT – Sen. Rick Girdler (R-Somerset) was recently appointed as the new Vice Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Economic Development, Tourism, and Labor. Senator Girdler’s new vice chairmanship comes after former vice chairman, Senator Steve Meredith (R-Leitchfield), was recently selected as the new Government Contract Review Committee Chairman.
Girdler represents the 15th District, including Boyle, Lincoln and Pulaski counties.
“Senator Meredith will be missed in this role but the Government Contract Review Committee will be in great hands,” said Senator Girdler. “I look forward to serving our great Commonwealth by promoting all our state has to offer to businesses, visitors, and employers and employees alike.”
According the to the Legislative Research Commission, the Senate Standing Committee on Economic Development, Tourism, and Labor focuses on matters pertaining to commerce, industry, economic and industrial development, the workforce and the workplace, and tourism, as well as other matters relating to the core focus of the committee.
