McKnight flexes his artistic abilities beyond being a vocalist. In addition to being a singer, songwriter and producer, McKnight is also a multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, guitar, bass, percussion, trombone, tuba, flugelhorn and trumpet. Collaborators across every genre have tapped his talents, from Quincy Jones and Justin Timberlake to Rascal Flatts and Willie Nelson.

These efforts have earned Brian McKnight 16 Grammy nominations, and he is the recipient of American Music awards, Soul Train awards, NAACP Image and Blockbuster awards, and was named Billboard Songwriter of The Year.  He has released 15 albums to date, with several going two and three times platinum; he has sold over 25 million albums worldwide.

“Usually, when a 16-time Grammy nominee comes to central Kentucky, he plays large arenas or amphitheaters,” said Norton Center executive director Steve Hoffman. “Especially when the categories include Best Male Pop Vocal Performer, Best Male R&B Vocal Performer, and Best R&B Album.  The Norton Center is thrilled to host Brian McKnight in its intimate and acoustically-refined hall, not only as he releases another powerful Grammy-worthy album, but in a concert that also includes songs from his multiple Christmas albums.  The Norton Center’s Newlin Hall will be a perfect complement to this mega-star’s smooth voice.”
