“Main Streets Across America is a celebration of streets in each of the 50 states and District of Columbia that reflect strong ‘main street values,’ play a central role in the communities in which they are located and have great stories to tell,” a National Life media release states.

National life added that a Main Street is more than “just an address” but it includes where the residents “work and play and experience life.”

Each program on the map, including the Heart of Danville, has its own profile that tells a small story about the Main Street and its community.

Streets were chosen on several aspects. Taken into consideration are streets that have a strong local business presence, are community gathering places, and have celebrations of history and traditions, along with social and cultural activities.

“Danville’s Main Street was chosen to represent Kentucky after we researched several streets,” Matt Kane, the public relations associate with Conover + Gould Strategy Group, a marketing organization for National Life, said by email. “We thought that Danville had a strong sense of community and history, and that the Main Street serves as a focal point that connects residents to the city.”

“It is an honor to be chosen as the Kentucky representative,” said Nick Wade, Heart of Danville Director.

“The people that live, work, and enjoy downtown Danville know how special is it, and we are excited to share that with people around the country.”

“Whether it’s named Main Street, First Avenue, Central Square or something else, these places reflect the history, growth, diversity and resilient strength of our communities that collectively weave the fabric of this country,” said Mehran Assadi, Chairman, CEO and President, National Life Group. “It is a labor of love for us to celebrate these streets each year and to share their community pride and unique stories with a broader audience.”
