Hubert Bell “Junior” Deatherage

1928-2017

Hubert Bell “Junior” Deatherage, Jr., age 89, of Dogwood Drive in Stanford, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at his residence. Born Sunday, February 26, 1928 in the Rowland Community of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Hubert Bell, Sr. & Frona Root Deatherage.

His loving wife, whom he married October 25, 1952, is Nell Peek Deatherage of Stanford. Junior was a US Air Force Veteran and retired from IBM. He was a member of Stanford Baptist Church and Past Master of Lincoln Lodge #60 F&AM. Junior loved his family dearly, loved to fish, and loved to sit outside and see his neighbors. 

In addition to his wife, Junior leaves behind one son, Ronnie Deatherage (Linda) of Stanford; one daughter, Debbie Deatherage Wilson (Terry) of Stanford; four grandchildren, Kevin Deatherage (Brittany) of Lexington, Kelly Grigson (David) of Stanford, Ethan Wilson (Kaitlyn) of Moreland, and Hagan Wilson of Stanford; four great-grandchildren, Lincoln Deatherage, Cicily Deatherage, Annabelle Grigson, and Asher Grigson. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Lucille Goodrich, Emma Oakes, Irene Parker, and Juanita Parker. 

A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Stanford Baptist Church. Burial, with Full Military Honors performed by Caswell-Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion, will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Kevin Deatherage, Ethan Wilson, Hagan Wilson, David Grigson, Gene Goode, and Jeff Peek will serve as Active Pallbearers. George Peek, Danny Spangler, Bobby Robbins, Bob Swett, Jack D. Johnson, and Jay Burton will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. 

Visitations will be held 5-9 PM Tuesday, December 5, 2017 and after 9 AM Wednesday at the church. Fox & Friend Funeral Home, Stanford, is entrusted with Junior’s arrangements. Guest Book at www.friendfuneralhomes.com.
