James Rual Arnold
1928-2018
James Rual Arnold, 89, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017. He was born in Danville on July 5, 1928, the only son of the late Fred Lee and Addie Mary Whitehouse Arnold. He was the husband of the late Nellie L. Arnold for 67 years, who passed away in 2015.
Rual graduated from Perryville High School and was a member of Perryville United Methodist Church. He retired from Corning Glass after a long career. He always enjoyed local sports in Boyle County and was an assistant coach for Stuart’s Little League baseball team. He liked attending the Lexington Legends baseball games and could not wait to get to the ballpark for a hotdog. Being outdoors was a favorite pastime as well as University of Kentucky basketball. He was a longtime member of the Oleika Shriners and was in the marching patrol. Since moving to Lexington he attended St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his son, James Stuart Arnold (Jessica), daughter, Phyllis Arnold (Reed Farley), two grandchildren, Clayton Arnold, Jessica Peart, and two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Isabel Peart.
In addition to his parents and wife, Rual was preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Powell, Bea Godbey, and Florence Arnold.
The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Walden Funeral Home Perryville. Larry McPherson will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 – 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 1, 2018 at Walden Funeral Home.
