Dear Editor,
The staff and volunteers of the Community Arts Center want to thank the community members who made the first annual Holiday Market at the Arts Center a huge success. This was a new endeavor for us and it would not have been possible without the enthusiastic support of our local and regional artists, as well as the community as a whole, who proved so willing to “Art Local” for their holiday shopping.
The Holiday Market featured artwork by more than 40 artists from in and around Danville, as well as a few from further afield that had close connections to the area. During the market’s five weeks of operation, 285 pieces of artwork were purchased, generating $9,190.55 in total revenue.
The majority of those funds went directly into the pockets of our participating artists, making their holidays a bit more merry! The remaining proceeds will support the Arts Center exhibits and programs, helping to make our community a more vibrant and beautiful place to live and work.
The Holiday Market was not just a financial success for our artists. It also drew considerable foot traffic to downtown Danville during the holiday season, helping to keep our historic downtown bustling with activity.
The Arts Center is proud to serve as the creative epicenter of our community. The Holiday Market is a tremendous example of the far-reaching impact created by innovative arts programming. We look forward to continuing to bring new and exciting arts opportunities to Danville in 2018.
