Gertrude Hourigan Baker

1926-2018

Gertrude Hourigan Baker, 91, of Danville, passed away January 8, 2018 in Lexington, Kentucky.

She was born on October 22, 1926, to the late Samuel T. and Mattie Powar Hourigan. Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, DeWayne Baker. 

She is survived by two sons, James T. Baker of Danville and Gary DeWayne Baker (Kathy Davis Baker) of Bowling Green; two daughters, Gwen Baker Boling (John M. Boling) of Elizabethtown and Phyllis Bryant (Darrell Bryant) of Danville; a sister, Carol Joyce Becker of Danville; 12 grandchildren, Rebecca Anne Lynch, Barbara Jeanne Baker Cooley, James T. Baker, Stephanie Michelle Ridge, Brian Baker Lamar, J. Matthew Boling, Sarah Elizabeth Boling, Christopher DeWayne Baker, Nathan Davis Baker, Jason S. Bryant, Jacob D. Bryant, and Kaitlyn R. Bryant; and 12 great-grandchildren, Abby Cooley, Ashaley Cooley, Kristofer Baker, Savannah Baker, Ty Noland, Sara Ridge, Jasamine Ridge, Makenna Baker, Johnny Sarabia, Kiersten S. Bryant, Kyler S. Bryant, and K. Sawyer Bryant. 

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 10 siblings; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Jean Baker.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Dr. Tim Mathis and Jacob Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. 

Visitation from 5-8PM Wednesday at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are the grandsons, James T. Baker, Brian Baker Lamar, J. Matthew Boling, Christopher DeWayne Baker, Nathan Davis Baker, Jason S. Bryant, Jacob D. Bryant and Michael Mattingly. Honorary pallbearers will be the granddaughters, Rebecca Anne Lynch, Barbara Jeanne Baker Cooley, Stephanie Michelle Ridge, Sarah Elizabeth Boling, and Kaitlyn R. Bryant.
