Dear Editor,
As a member of the Danville Independent Schools Board when Dr. Keith Look was hired, I would like to express my appreciation to him for the progress of the schools under his direction. Since his tenure began, I have followed reports of the district’s activities and see he has led the district in the direction we had hoped when we first met and interviewed him.
Staff morale is at a high level, which has directly impacted student performance and success. Test scores have improved and the high school has achieved Distinguished status. Test scores do not measure everything and the successes of the district in all areas have been obvious.
The Danville Schools continue to be a state leader in a wide range of activities, including forensics, arts programming, graduate acceptance into prestigious post secondary programs and athletics, among many others.
Dr. Look has steered the district through major construction and renovation projects along with the difficult task of planning for consolidated staff positions and programs to meet the needs of the next generation of our community’s citizens.
His long-range vision and planning for the district have resulted in the district continuing to be on sound financial footing, which will keep the district stable in this uncertain state budgetary period.
As a graduate myself and the parent of a graduate, I am proud of the Danville Schools’ history and current progress toward a healthy educational future for our community.
