Post 15 treats 51 children to Christmas
Columbia – A record high 51 children from the Post 15 counties were treated to Christmas on December 18 and 19, 2017. Post 15 began participating in the annual Shop with a Trooper program, which occurs around the state at different Post locations, in 2009 and has averaged helping to provide Christmas to 38 children, ages 0-18. The money is provided by donors and fund raising efforts.
Two events were held on consecutive nights to allow for the participating family members of the children to have access to areas closer to them. Children in the northern Post 15 service area met with Troopers, CVE Officers, dispatchers and other helpers in Taylor County where they were treated to a meal prior to a shopping spree at the local Walmart where needs and some wants were met. The children from the southern Post 15 service area met in Adair County.
Collectively, 47 people participated in helping to feed, serve and shop with the children.
Post 15 services Washington, Marion, Taylor, Green, Russell, Casey, Adair, Metcalfe, Monroe, Clinton and Cumberland county.
