Hilda Frances Taylor Hunstad

1922-2018

Hilda Frances Taylor Hunstad, a longtime resident of Danville, Kentucky died Sunday the 21st of January at Charleston Healthcare Center. She was preceded in death by husbands Arthur Taylor and Laverne Hunstad; parents Carl and Lula Mae Napps; brothers Carl and Klell Napps and sister, Virginia Napps Lucas.

She is survived by her sons Tom Taylor (Judith) and David Taylor (Dixie); her step children Karen Hunstad Martin, Joann Hunstad Edwards, Thomas Hunstad, Bernie Hunstad and Nels Hunstad; grandchildren; Laura Taylor Smith, Blair Taylor McEvoy, Jason Taylor and by numerous great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hunstad was born on August 20, 1922 in Decatur, Alabama. She graduated from Danville High School in 1940 and continued her education at Fugazzi Business College. She worked at Southern Bell Telephone Company and then she took a position at Centre College where she worked for over 40 years, until her retirement.

Hilda was active in her community, having served as President of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, as a member of the Twilight Homemakers Club and with the Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to cook for her family, have lunch and visit with her friends, watch birds at her birdfeeder, read a good romance novel and watch old Western movies.

She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. 

The family wishes to thank her dear friend, Jeanette Beldon. 

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, the 27th of January at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home, followed immediately by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. A private burial at Bellevue Cemetery will follow the memorial service.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church or to Centre College.
