1932-2018

Joretta Ann Law Nutter, 85, of Danville passed away Monday at Charleston Healthcare Center in Danville. Born April 7, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Tracy and Retha Burns Law.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church Danville where she served as the organist for over 40 years. She was a member of several vocal groups, including “The Melody Sisters” along with her sister, Rosalie, where they toured and performed in West Virginia, and a local trio, “The Gospelettes”. She was also a member of the Order of The Eastern Star.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William Nutter, and her daughter, Janalie King. 

She is survived by a son, Dean (Jackie) Nutter of Pennsylvania; a son-in-law, Steven King of Danville; a sister, Rosalie Worstell of St. Marys, WV; 2 nieces: Jeannine (Fred) Booth of Sissonville, WV and Carleen (Larry) Dennison of St. Mary’s, WV; 2 grandchildren: Sara (Dustin) Getter and Kendra (Matthew) Grimes both of Danville and a step-grandson, Connor Huston.

Services are at 1 pm Monday at First Baptist Church Danville by Dr. J. Timothy Mathis with burial in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 pm Sunday at the church.
