Ernest Wayne Gooch, Sr.

1934-2018

Ernest Wayne Gooch, Sr., 83, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018. 

He was born in Moreland, Kentucky, on May 1, 1934, a son of the late Oliver and Ella Mae Bailey Gooch. He and his wife, Thelma “Arnice” Huston Gooch, were married for 60 years. Ernest was a member of the Allen Chapel A.M.E. Moreland. He enjoyed mechanic work and yard work. His family has fond memories of fishing trips and many vacations.

In addition to his wife, Arnice, he is survived by two children, Donna Jean Burdette (McElroy) and Ernest Wayne Gooch, Jr. (Terry); four grandchildren, Troy Burdette (Krystal), Shane Burdette (Jamelia), Michael Meadows (Margaret) and Bryan Gooch. Other survivors include six great grandchildren; four sisters, Sadie Jones, Daisy Ann Coulter, Katie Irene Cochran, and Billie Holliday Scott; two brothers, Robert Gooch, Sr., (Ann) and Earl Gooch; and one sister-in-law, Carol Gooch.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

A time of visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 5 to 8:00 p.m. at Walden Funeral Home Perryville. Funeral and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Heritage Hospice of Danville.
