John Curtis Chitwood Jr.

1946-2018

John Curtis Chitwood Jr., 71, of Danville, died January 16, 2018. 

Born December 9, 1946, in McCreary County, he was the son of the late Mildred Irene Strunk and John C. Chitwood Sr. John was an avid basketball player, attended McCreary County schools and was a 1964 graduate of Danville High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky. John taught history at Boyle County High School and was a farmer, horseman and friend to many. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Beth Thomas.

Survivors include a son, John D. Chitwood; two nieces, Melissa Thomas and Alison; a nephew, Terry Thomas; and many close friends.

The funeral service will be 7 p.m., Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., prior to the service.
