Come to your own conclusions about the Bible

Dear Editor,

Agnostic Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, “Common sense is science exactly in so far as it fulfills the ideal of common sense; that is, sees facts as they are, or at any rate, without the distortion of prejudice, and reasons from them in accordance with the dictates of sound judgment …”

Due to recent events the topic of Bible literacy is prompting many to publicize personal interpretations of this sacred book. An individual should utilize resources available (internet/library/etc.) to come to their own conclusions. One’s view of the accuracy, historicity, or reliability of anything of significance should not be based upon the prejudice of another.

Robert Andrews Millikan, physicist and Nobel Peace Prize winner, stated, “I consider an intimate knowledge of the Bible an indispensable quality of a well educated man.” Let’s not dispense with that.
