Democratic candidates for House Rep, District 2 invited to forum

Democratic candidates for the US House of Representatives, District 2, have been invited to a community forum to discuss the “Safety Net” and other topics of interest of voters. This forum will take place 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20,  n the Community room at the InterCounty RECC, 1009 Hustonville Rd, in Danville. Brian Pedigo and Rane Sessions have confirmed their attendance. Hank Linderman and Grant Short have not yet committed to attend. This event is sponsored by Indivisible Danville. The event is free and open to the public.

Blue Grass Community Action Partnership will offer a one-time $750 Scholarship to an individual in each of the following Counties: Boyle, Garrard, Jessamine, Lincoln and Mercer. Recipients will be selected based on need, academic record and the merit of the application. The Scholarship may be used to help cover expenses associated with attending College or a Technical School of the recipient's choice. Applications for the Scholarship may be obtained from the Guidance Counselor at each area High School, or by calling Jessica Aldridge at Blue Grass Community Action Partnership – Community Services at (502) 695-4290 ext. 224. Non-traditional students will also be considered. The deadline for submitting an application is April 16, 2018. This project is funded, in part, under a contract with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services with funds from the Community Services Block Grant Act of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. 

Meetings

Boyle County Genealogical and Historical Society – 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at Boyle County Public Library community room. Don Rightmeyer will talk about “Kentucky’s Fighting Men in the Civil War”.  He is former editor of “Kentucky Ancestors”, a publication of the Kentucky Historical Society,  and has extensive experience in writing about and presenting historical and genealogical topics. Visitors are welcome.

Boyle County Republican Party — 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Mallard’s Restaurant, 1001 Ben Ali Drive.
