A Boyle County home at 351 Phillips Lane was destroyed by flames about 8 p.m. Sunday night.

“The structure sustained heavy fire damage. It is mostly just the shell of home,” said Boyle County Public Information Officer Tim Middleton.

The fire is not considered to be suspicious.

Eddie Hasty, who lived there with his son, said the family is unharmed and were not home at the time of the fire. A dog was outside and left unharmed, but the family’s cat didn’t survive.

On Monday afternoon, Hasty said he’s not sure what they need.

“I’m still in the dark right now,” he said, but said he and his son have a place to stay.

Hasty said he’s “deeply appreciative for all the prayers, thoughts and phone calls.”

“Everyone’s been extremely nice and I appreciate it.”

The Boyle County Fire Department was at the home for about three house, said Chief Donnie Sexton.

Firefighters were called back to the house at about 4:30 a.m. The house was smoldering, said Sexton, who explained it that it was the metal roof causing that.

“We put some water on it,” he said. It had not reignited, Sexton said.

At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation. Middleton said it is not being considered suspicious.
