Names of victim, alleged shooter in Tuesday’s fatal shooting released

Kentucky State Police have released the names of the woman killed in a fatal shooting Tuesday, and the man accused of killing her at a home on Shakertown Road in northern Boyle County.
Jennifer Montgomery, 27, was killed as a result of gunshot wounds, according to Boyle County Coroner Don Hamner, who pronounced her dead at the scene on Tuesday.
Colin Montgomery, 29, has been charged with murder for allegedly shooting his wife.
Jennifer Montgomery’s body has been taken to Frankfort for an autopsy.
According to Kentucky State Police, Jennifer Montgomery was shot by Colin Montgomery during a domestic dispute.
Colin Montgomery was detained by the Boyle County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday evening when deputies arrived at the scene. He was officially booked into the Boyle County Detention Center at 3:49 a.m. by Kentucky State Police.
On Tuesday evening, Trooper Robert Purdy confirmed there were children in the home at the time of the shooting.
“It’s a very sad situation,” Purdy said at the time.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Kentucky State Police Post 7 Detective Tye Chavies.
