Gary Rogers, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Danny Karriker. The accident took place near Raleigh Road.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Ryan Jones responded to the scene around 12:25 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, Jones found a body lying in the northbound lane of U.S. 27. A 2010 GMC Yukon with front end damage was also at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, Mohammad Bidarian, 62, of Somerset, told Jones that he was driving north when he saw Rogers run into his lane from the west.

Bidarian said he swerved to avoid striking Rogers but was unable to avoid a collision.

Rogers’ body was taken to Frankfort for an autopsy.

The PCSO says that dark clothing may have been a contributing factor in the cause of the accident. An investigation is continuing.

Assisting at the scene was the Science Hill Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Somerset-Pulaski EMS and the Science Hill Fire Department.
