Gerldean “Gerry” Smith Matherly

1938-2018

Gerldean “Gerry” Smith Matherly, 80, of Junction City, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018.

Born January 26, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Anna Wray Smith McCowan and Johnny Smith. She was the widow of Earl Matherly. Gerry worked at KSD, Hallmark and VA. She was a member of Community Baptist Church of Junction City. 

She is survived by three daughters, Debbie Bernard of Lexington, Tammy (Jimmy) Martin of Lexington, and Teresa (Donnie) Moore of Lexington; two sons, Earl Lee Matherly of Lawrenceburg and Johnny (Phillip Mudd) Matherly of Lexington; two sisters, Louise Nay of Indiana and Jean Mills of Georgetown; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

 In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimie Bernard; beloved daughter-in-laws, Ida Mae Matherly and Donna Matherly; five brothers; five sisters; and a best friend, Helen Wilburn. 

Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Bro. Doug Vandivier with burial in Junction City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mike Mitchell, John Mitchell, Tonie Matherly, Kaeshaun Bernard, Justin Wise, Jason Satterly, Artie Dale Bernard and Don Moore. Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Thursday.
