Shaking winter off

The pioneer and statesman get a little snowy while shaking hands in Constitution Square Historic Site Wednesday morning. Inside the McKinney Conference Center where it was a little warmer, the Economic Development Partnership discussed the park’s two endowments. The agency fund, which the Boyle County Fiscal Court contributes to, has about $270,000 in it right now, and the goal is $350,000 — that would provide enough revenue from 1-percent interest earned to cover maintenance costs for the park, Judge-Executive Harold McKinney said. The second, “designated” fund has much less in it — only about $6,000, McKinney said. The designated fund can be donated to by anyone and the principal balance can never be accessed by the fiscal court. Whenever that fund grows big enough, interest earned on the balance can be used for programming at the park, McKinney said.
